Patrick Fillion __exclusive__ -

Fillion is responsible for creating a wide roster of characters, many of whom inhabit a shared universe. His characters are often archetypes of superhero genres but are reimagined with a focus on sexuality and gay culture.

To create a continuous, highly charged stream of gay erotic comics featuring rich storylines and well-developed characters.

Patrick Fillion’s journey began in Quebec, Canada. Like many artists of his generation, he was heavily influenced by the bombastic superhero comics of Marvel and DC. "I grew up with Chris Claremont’s X-Men , John Byrne’s Fantastic Four , and George Pérez’s New Teen Titans ," Fillion has noted in past interviews. However, unlike mainstream artists, Fillion realized early on that the muscular, spandex-clad heroes he loved were missing one crucial element: overt, honest sexuality.

In the landscape of LGBTQ+ comics, Patrick Fillion occupies a unique space between underground erotic art and the polished aesthetic of Marvel and DC superheroes. Born in Quebec, Canada, Fillion began self-publishing in the 1990s, a period when positive gay imagery in mainstream culture was scarce. His flagship characters—such as Cameron Cruise , The Boy , and Guardian —inhabit a world where physical power, erotic liberation, and emotional vulnerability coexist.

But to dismiss Fillion as merely a pornographer would be a profound misunderstanding of his work and legacy. For over three decades, Fillion has carved out a unique space in the comic book industry: a world where gay men can see themselves not as sidekicks, villains, or tragic figures, but as powerful, desirable heroes in full command of their sexuality. Through his independent publishing company, , Fillion has built a "small gay Marvel Comics"—an empire of erotic superhero fiction that has been translated into multiple languages and distributed across Europe and North America.

The parallel to Fillion's own adolescent loneliness was deliberate. "I had this tremendous sense of loneliness and isolation in high school, and I think that's something I imbued in the character, to put that frustration into him," said Fillion. "I was learning about my sexuality at that time".

His unorthodox reading material didn't always endear him to closed-minded educators. Fillion chuckles as he recalls how many comics he had torn up by teachers. "I was in Prince George, and, as much as I love my adoptive hometown, it really had some of that small-town mentality".

Fillion’s passion for drawing began at an early age in Quebec, where he spent his formative years sketching and honing his artistic style, often focusing on figure drawing and nudes. However, his career and artistic voice underwent a significant transformation in 1991 when he relocated to Vancouver. Immersing himself in the local gay community, Fillion’s artwork evolved to reflect the experiences, fantasies, and culture of the queer community. Building an Empire: Class Comics
